What they are saying about Palin/Biden Debate!

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008
Luntz Focus Group Calls Palin The Winner: “I
Think She Just Spoke To The People, The American People”
Luntz Focus Group Voter: “I think she
just spoke to the people, the American people. She was direct.”
(Luntz Focus Group On Fox News, 10/2/08)
· Watch Luntz Focus Group:

“She Was Every Bit His
Equal”
The New York Times‘ David
Brooks:
“I thought she was every bit his equal. I thought she was fluid,
confident, she struck her theme, just the regular old mom. But she handled the
foreign policy issues. She did fine with Iraq. She did fine with Iran. She
certainly hit energy often enough. I suspect Republicans are going to be quite
pleased.”
(David Brooks, PBS’ “Post-Debate Analysis,”
10/2/08)
· Brooks: “She could do policy, she did
quite well on the gubernatorial issues and did quite well on mentioning John
McCain all the time, much more than Joe Biden who scarcely mentioned Barack
Obama, she did quite well with that. I thought was just that style of me versus
Washington. I thought it was quite effective for her in general. I suspect most
people, there are a few more hallmark moments, Norman Rockwell moments but I
suspect most people will really like that.”
(David Brooks, PBS’
“Post-Debate Analysis,” 10/2/08)
“She’s Articulate, Quick, Detail-Oriented”
With “Everyday American Appeal”
ABC’s Rick Klein:
“[W]here has this Sarah Palin been? She’s articulate, quick, detail-oriented
tonight.”
(Rick Klein, “Live Debate” Blog, blogs.abcnews.com,
10/2/08)
· Klein: “9:03 pm CT: ‘It’s so obvious that
I’m a Washington outsider,’ Palin says. Again, better done than said, but
undeniable. This line of attack, driving a wedge between Biden and Obama, is
legit, though it can seem forced at times.”
(Rick Klein, “Live
Debate,” ABC News’ “Live Debate” Blog,
blogs.abcnews.com,
10/2/08)
CNN’s Bill Schneider:
“Palin is going after Biden over his comments that the wealthy should pay
more taxes as a patriotic move. The Alaska governor has come to this debate
fully armed.”
(Bill Schneider, “Schneider: Attack, Counter
Attack,” CNN’s “Political Ticker” Blog,
www.cnn.com, 10/2/08)
The Washington Post’s Chris

“Palin to Biden: ‘Can I call you Joe?’ GENIUS.”
(Chris Cillizza,20″Twittering The Showdown In St. Louis,” The
Washington Post
’s “The Fix” Blog,

soccer game’ story in regards the economy. Folksy — playing to her strengths.”
(Chris Cillizza, “Twittering The Showdown In St. Louis,”
Washington Post Fix

, 10/2/08)
· Cillizza: “State of Alaska…taking on oil
companies…this is good ground for her. The more she talks about reform, the
better.”
(Chris Cillizza, “Twittering The Showdown In St. Louis,”
Washington Post Fix
Blog
, 10/2/08)
MSNBC’s Carrie Dann:
“Here’s that folksy, everyday American appeal right out of the gate with Palin’s
first answer. She says you can hear about the consequences of the tough economy
just by asking parents at a hockey game on a Saturday afternoon … ‘You’re
going to hear some fear’ about ‘the few investments some of us might have,’ she
says.”
(Carrie Dann, “The Palin McCain’s Been Talking
About,” MSNBC’s “First Read” Blog,
firstread.msnbc.msn.com,
10/2/08)
MSNBC’s Domenico Montanaro:
“Good start on the first question from Palin. She was crisp and went right
to those … soccer moms, if you will. She brought the economy to the middle
class and said the barometer is how parents on the sidelines feel. There are
likely a lot of nodding heads in some living rooms at home.”
(Domenico Montanaro, “Palin, Off To Good Start,” MSNBC’s “First
Read” Blog,
firstread.msnbc.com,
10/2/08)
NBC’s Matthew Berger:
“Those who have seen Palin debate in Alaska say she is very efficient, and
you’re seeing that now. She’s taking Biden on directly, speaking at him and then
turning to the camera to make her points.”
(Carrie Dann,
“Palin’s Efficiency,” MSNBC’s “First Read” Blog,

Biden, which seems to tick him off.”
(Katharine Q. Seelye,
“A Tense Moment,” The New York Times, 10/2/08)
The Atlantic’s Ambinder:
“Palin is adept at keeping Biden on the offensive.”
(Marc Ambinder, “The Debate: Liveblogging I,” The Atlantic’s “Marc
Ambinder” Blog,

10/2/08)
Commentary’s Linda Chavez:
“Palin is easier to listen to than Biden. First answer was, if not a home
run, at least a double.”
(Linda Chavez, “VP Mom,”
Commentary’s “Contentions” Blog,
www.commentarymagazine.com,
10/2/08)
Commentary’s Eric Trager:
“Palin reminds Biden that he has often differed with Barack Obama on the
Iraq war, and offers her respect for Biden’s previous positions. ‘I don’t know
how you can defend his positions now.’ Brilliant.”
(Eric
Trager, “Her Best Moment Yet,” Commentary’s “Contentions” Blog,
www.commentarymagazine.com,
10/2/08)
· Trager: “She calls Biden out on voting for
the war before he was against it. Biden has only himself to blame for setting
Palin up with a meek explanation of why he authori zed the war without
(supposedly) supporting it. This is the knockout punch of the night thus far.”
(Eric Trager, “I’m Such A Washington Outsider,” Commentary’s
“Contentions” Blog,
www.commentarymagazine.com,
10/2/08)
The Politico’s Jonathan
Martin:
“She knows all the wedges between Biden and Obama, including their
votes on troop funding, and even drops in a reference to that Jon Stewart
interview where the Delaware senator said he’d be honored to run with his
colleague from Arizona.”
(Jonathan Martin, “Palin Got Good
Oppo Brief,” The Politico’s “Jonathan Martin” Blog,
www.politico.com,
10/2/08)
Townhall’s Amanda Carpenter:
“Palin says Obama’s vow to meet with foreign enemies goes ‘beyond naivate,
[sic] beyond poor judgment. Diplomacy is hard work by serious people’ with
guidelines and sanctions ‘before any kind o f presidential summit would take
place.’”
(Amanda Carpenter, “Palin’s Smoking Obama On
Foreign Policy,” Townhall.com,
www.townhall.com,
10/2/08)
Commentary’s Jennifer Rubin:
“Sarah Palin takes us back to the Bush-Cheney energy plan and reminds him
that Obama voted for it. Then she goes back to her own record of getting tough
with the oil company. Forget expectations, she might just be winning this. At
least for now.”
(Jennifer Rubin, “Energy Plan,”

Lynne Lupien: Battle of the Blog Talkers post from the Left!

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Hi, it’s your friendly podcaster Lynne of Left Ahead! and Left in Lowell, here to tell you all about
stranger-danger—oh, that’s not what I have to talk about? I need to plug my
“national debut”? OK then…

Our robust and august hosts at BlogTalkRadio
are teaming up with FOX News
Radio
for a “Battle of the Blog Talkers” on FOX Across
America
hosted by Spencer Hughes and carried on FOXNewsRadio.com and Sirius
XM Radio. From October 6th through the 9th at 2-3pm, four
liberal and four conservative BTR hosts will battle it out (with listener voting
via web and text) for two slots each side on the Friday, Oct 10th show, and one
winner from each “side” (liberal and conservative) from Friday’s show will get
the chance to join Spencer in co-hosting a special FOX News Radio Election 2008
series live from 8 to 9 a.m. EDT the week of October 20th.

It turns out these people are weird (insane? silly?) enough to invite me to
participate.

It so happens that I’m slotted for the Monday, October 6th show
(2pm)
, up against fellow liberal blogtalker Julie Pippert of MOMocrats.
Listeners will vote for whoever they think did the best that day, and the winner
will move on to the Friday slot with three other winners from the right and left
to the Friday show, from which winners of each side (by listener vote) will move
on to the week of October 20th morning show.

It’s sort of Survivor meets talking heads. If you talk good enough, they
might not vote you off the island. :)

On another note, we’ve been assured (repeatedly) that liberals will get a
fair shake on the shows. The format calls for uninterrupted time for each
contestant. :)

I know it’s sort of Crossfire-esque. On the other hand, it’s sort of like a
mini debate club event, and just maybe a lot of fun. That is, if I can keep from
talking a 100 miles a minute. :) I hope
I can count on your listening, and your vote (if you think I did the best
anyway!) on Monday afternoon!

Andrea Shea King: Battle of the Blog Talkers!

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Andrea Shea King Posted this Great Post on her Blog! cross posted here

Wednesday, October 01, 2008

THE BATTLE OF THE BLOG TALKERS

Whoo hoo! It’s Election 2008: Battle of the Blog Talkers, A
co-production of FOX NEWS Radio and BlogTalkRadio. And I’ve been invited to
participate!

Here’s the scoop:

Since its popularization in the
early-1990s, the Internet has had an increasingly significant impact on U.S.
presidential elections. By the 2004 race, it was clear that no candidate could
be without a website on which to disseminate news, chat with voters, raise
campaign funds and so on.

Going into the 2004 race, however, blogging was
in its infancy. According to Technorati, a mere 100,000 blogs existed. Since
then, that number has grown to more than 120 million! Which means the blogosphere is the new cyber-force to
be reckoned with during Election 2008.

Add to that the recent explosion
of bloggers hosting live, interactive radio shows on BlogTalkRadio –
whose monthly listening
audience now exceeds 3.6 million
– and you
have a scenario that demands that any self-respecting election coverage meld
traditional media with social media.

Going forward, BlogTalkRadio is
joining forces with FOX NEWS Radio to seek out the best blog talkers from each
side of the political spectrum – and give them a voice via the FOX News
family.

Battle of the Blog Talkers

One month prior to Election
Day, “FOX Across America” host Spencer Hughes, whose show airs weekdays from 2-3
p.m. ET on FOX NEWS Radio and on Sirius XM, will moderate a debate between four
BlogTalkRadio Heading Left Station (liberal) and four Heading Right Station
(conservative) hosts, culminating in the selection of one host from each to
serve as Hughes’ co-host two weeks later.

How it works:

Day 1,
Oct. 6, Hughes will introduce a topic and Heading Left Host A will have five
minutes of uninterrupted time to respond, after which Heading Left host B will
have five minutes to respond. Later in the show, the topic will be opened to
further discussion with Hughes and listeners/callers. Post-show, listeners will
vote via mobile text message and online poll for a winner in Round 1.

On
Day 2, Oct. 7, two Heading Right hosts will similarly square off on the show,
with listeners again voting for a winner.

At the end of the week-long
battle, the one Heading Left host and one Heading Right host left standing will
be declared “winners” of their respective parties. Two weeks later, those
winners will join Hughes as co-hosts, from 8-9 a.m. ET, during an entire week of
live shows.

Schedule

WEEK OF OCTOBER 6

Battle of the Blog
Talkers on “Fox Across America” (airing on Sirius XM and FOXNewsTalk.com, with
simulcasts on BlogTalkRadio) unfolds as follows:

BLOG TALK RADIO HOSTS WHO’LL BE COMPETING:
Monday Oct. 6:
Lynne Lupien vs. Julie Pippert
Tuesday, Oct. 7: Kevin Ross vs. Chad
Everson

Wednesday, October 8: David McLaughlin vs. Tom D’Antoni
Thursday,
October 9: Andrea Shea King vs. Elizabeth
“Media Lizzy” Blackney

WEEK OF OCTOBER 13

Battle of the Blog
Talkers is repeated in the 8-9am ET slot on FOXNewsTalk.com, while being
available on-demand on BlogTalkRadio.

WEEK OF OCTOBER 20

The two
winners co-host a FOX NEWS Radio special with Spencer Hughes, live from 8-9 a.m.
ET.

I’ll keep you updated. Wish me luck!

BlogTalkRadio Hosts Go Big-Time-On FOX! For Election Showdown!

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Crossposted from BTR’s Blog

Way back in 2004, when John Kerry was challenging George W. Bush
for the highest office in the land, few Americans had ever heard the
word blog – let alone spent much of their free time devouring the most
passionate and incisive among them.

What a difference an embattled admini- stration makes!

Today, blogging is not only the New Journalism, it’s a major force in shaping our nation’s political opinions.

So it should come as no surprise that FOX News Radio
has selected eight of BlogTalkRadio’s most passionate and incisive
hosts to voice their opinions about Election 2008 in the mainstream.

Beginning Monday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m. ET, four hosts from our Heading
Left Channel and four from Heading Right will square off during a
weeklong, one-on-one tournament that will determine the best blog
talker from each side of the political spectrum.

Election 2008: Battle of the Blog Talkers unfolds on FOX Across America, which is hosted by Spencer Hughes and carried on FOXNewsRadio.com and Sirius XM Radio.  (To hear more about this special, click here now.)

Lynne

Lynne Lupien: Leading off for the Left.

In Round 1, Spencer will moderate a debate between two Heading Left
hosts, who will each have five minutes of uninter- rupted time to
respond to the same topic. Listeners then vote (via mobile-text message
and online poll) for their favorite blog talker, who in turn moves onto
Round 3. Meanwhile, two Heading Right hosts square off in Round 2, with
the most popular moving onto Round 4. And in Round 5, the Heading Left
and Heading Right victors go head to head.

After each round, the topics will be opened to discussion with Spencer, as well as with listeners calling into the show.

Then, throughout the week of Oct. 20, live from 8 to 9 a.m. EDT, the
Heading Left and Heading Right victors will join Spencer in co-hosting
a special FOX News Radio Election 2008 series.

Here are the BlogTalkRadio hosts who’ll be doing battle:

Chad

Chad Everson: Ready to rumble for the Right.

Heading Left

-Lynne Lupien of Lowell, MA: Left Ahead!.

-Julie Pippert of Houston, TX: MOMocrats.

-David McLaughlin of Rome, GA: The Kudzu Vine.

-Tom D’Antoni of Portland, OR: D’Antoni and Levine.

Heading Right

-Kevin Ross of Los Angeles, CA: The Kevin Ross Show.

-Chad Everson of Princeton, MN: Grizzly Groundswell.

-Elizabeth Blackney of Bend, OR: Media Lizzy.

-Andrea Shea King of Cape Canaveral, FL: Andrea Shea King Show.

Once the war of words gets under way, we’ll be keeping your apprised
of all the action, so - in addition to tuning into this historic series
- be sure to check in here daily.

I received this email today as an artist I am very frustrated with my fellow artists.

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

The Question that should be asked is this:

Can the Arts and Artists of this country, Survive Socialist Policy in our Government?

The simple answer is…

Hell NO!

How about we take that money being waisted on bureaucracy and surveys and the lobby could go back to Minnesota citizens and business so that they can choose, the free market who and what art they would like to purchase.

I am a Raku Clay Artist focusing on Tile and mosaic elements and offering enrichment classes that utilize clay to teach conservative thought.  I have found anytime the socialist intrude upon the arts, there is only tyranny and corruption!
Let’s Stand Up and put an end to this silly socialist squirrels always asking for a handout instead of a hand up!
